Hard to beat an all-you-can-eat cruise for $75 a head ? and for a ...

Cruise to the Cure

We don?t promote every charitable cause that comes our way ? there are far too many to accommodate them all ? but this one strikes us as an opportunity for an unusually good time. Try this on: All you can eat and drink while cruising Lake Grapevine on an autumn afternoon ? for $75 a person.

The event is Sunday, Oct. 14, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Departure is from Silver Lake Marina on the east side of Lake Grapevine.

Cruise to the Cure is a fledgling effort to raise money for breast cancer awareness efforts by the Joan Katz Breast Center at Baylor All Saints Medical Center Fort Worth. Organizer Kevin Langton of Universal Land and Title hopes to raise $10,000 for the effort.

He has organized a 90-foot charter boat for the first 75 people to sign up. In addition to food, drink and merriment, there will be a silent auction and raffle prizes, including a new Lexus eS 400.

All the proceeds go to the Katz center, which offers free comprehensive care to women with breast, ovarian, cervical and uterine cancer. Patients at the center can get services such as counseling, wigs, prostheses, nutritional and wellness coaching and education, among other things.
